Laverstock and Ford produced the comeback of the day to put one over on early season pace setters Baffins Milton Rovers on Saturday down on the Portsmouth coast.

Lavvy came into the game off an impressive win against Hamble last week, and were up against a side who were scoring for fun and had won five on the trot.

The visitors started the brightest, having more touches in the Baffins box inside the opening five minutes that they did in the entire fixture last season.

An early setback for the home side saw their centre half go off with an ankle injury after a  lengthy delay, but the shuffle of the pack seemed to work for Baffins as they scored with their first attack.

A long ball into a wide area caused hesitancy and the pacey Everett nipped in to lob Gunstone Grey to make it 1-0 on 11 minutes.

Lavvy soon got into their stride and were dominant on the ball. A big chance came on 22 when skipper Adam Bourner was tripped in the box.

Bourner stepped up only to see his spot kick palmed and Tommy Campbell-Smith blazed over the follow-up.

However, within ten minutes, the equaliser came. A short corner to Whacky, who whipped in a teasing high ball that looped over the keeper Deacon to make it 1-1 on 33.

Just as halftime loomed, Lavvy got caught cold from a throw-in. A neat bit of play at the by-line resulted in a cross that Gunstone-Grey could only block once, before Everett tapped in for the lead at the break on 43.

In the second half Lavvy came out knowing they needed to show a bit more quality when in the final third.

The half began on a knife edge, Baffins trying to counter a high line but the back four were in tandem and frustrated the hosts. They did break through once and when they did Everett saw his effort come back off the upright.

From that moment, Baffins never got a look in, Lavvy went through the gears and when Bourner teed up Tommy Campbell-Smith, his run across the box resulted in a great left foot drive that beat the keeper to make it 2-2 on 65.

The Bulldogs, roared on by their travelling support were smelling blood and the introduction of Harvey Roberts made a huge impact, he burst down the flank, cleverly pulled his cross back for Campbell-Smith who’s whipped right foot effort evaded the home keeper to make it 2-3 to Laverstock & Ford.

Lavvy saw the game out, frustrating their hosts and ensuring they were to eave PO with all three points.

Manager Liam McConnell said: "To follow up last week’s win is huge. We know coming away to all sides is tough but certainly all the PO teams. They are big, physical and have a certain way of playing so you can see how they collect points. I knew Baffins would fancy it today so we had to stand up to the test.

"To turn the game around and miss a penalty tells you the mindset we have. We have a strong squad, beyond the 16 today. I can name another eight good quality players that weren’t with us today and that shows the levels the starting eleven have to be at. People keep pointing out the quality on our bench certainly over the past couple of games. It’s great competition but everyone has to stay healthy and available and importantly in form."
