SALISBURY Lawn Tennis Club have announced the appointment of Rory Smith as the new head coach at the club, located on Old Blandford Road in Harnham.

Smith lives locally and has been a member of the club since he was a youngster. He is currently director of tennis and head coach at Warminster School and plays for Wiltshire County.

As a Junior he won every Wiltshire county singles championship from under-10 through to the men’s title.

Smith said: “I am delighted to be joining the club as head coach and helping it maintain and build upon its reputation as one of the top performance clubs in Wiltshire.”

Stephen Berry, the club’s chairman, welcomed the appointment. He said: “As one of the County’s top players and an experienced coach, we are delighted to have Rory appointed as head coach and look forward to working with him to further the growth of tennis in the club and county for all ages and levels.”

Smith will be joined by June Keen, who has coached at the club previously and will add strength and depth to the coaching team. Keen is an experienced level four coach and is also a Wiltshire county player
