SALISBURY RFC United fell to a high-scoring, close defeat at home to Lytchett Minster on Saturday.

There were several missed opportunities in the first 20 minutes, with Ollie Bowden’s dangerous runs from full-back denting the opposition’s defence, but stopping short of the try line. Lytchett were the first on the scoreboard, before a Callum Wright try and two penalties either side of a second Lytchett score left the home side trailing by three points at the break. The second-half was a battle between the power of Lytchett’s pack and Salisbury’s pacey backs.

In the end, four tries and two Wright conversions were not enough to bring Salisbury victory.

Elsewhere, Salisbury A lost 24-45 at Bridport, Salisbury Stones emerged victorious at Fordingbridge winning 35-22 and Salisbury Under 16s crushed Wiltshire Barbarians 60-5.
