LAVERSTOCK and Ford maintained their 100 per cent winning record in Sydenhams Wessex Division One.

They recorded a hard-fought 2-1 victory over a resilient Christchurch thanks to goals from Russell Jones and Joe Sanger.

Lavvy took the lead within eight minutes when Jones found the net from close range, his sixth goal of the campaign.

Laverstock were in the ascendancy and had a number of clear chances, courtesy of Sanger and Jones, to double their lead.

But, against the run of play, the visitors were level, a long ball caused hesitancy resulting in Alexis Aguer bringing down Grant Cormack for a spot kick which the striker dually converted four minutes prior to the interval.

The second half saw Laverstock continue with possession and territory but Christchurch stood stern until their defence was unlocked in the 74th minute.

After an energetic run, Seb Dawes rifled a shot against the post and Sanger pounced to slot home the rebound.

The visitors pressed for a leveller but, in return, Cormack saw red following a dangerous challenge on Aguer.

That win sees them stay in second place.

Meanwhile, early leaders Downton slipped to fourth in the standings following a first defeat of the season.

Player/assistant manager Ben Smith scored in the 2-1 defeat at Tadley Calleva.
