Hampshire League - Regional Division 1 West

A FINE all-round performance from Ben Bealey saw Damerham to an 88-run victory when they travelled to Lambs Corner.

After losing an early wicket, Damerham progressed to 242-6 after Bealey (91) and Hacon Edgeley (79) added 167 for the second wicket and skipper Henry Gilbert chipped in with 36.

Thanks to Malcolm Waters (57), Cadnam were making good progress at 108-2 but then Bealey (4-22) entered the fray and he took four wickets in five balls including a hat-trick as they were reduced to 110-7. Gilbert took 3-41 as the final wicket fell for 154 in 36 overs.

Shrewton 2nds were no match for pace-setters Breamore as they lost by 81 runs at The Marsh after Paul Veit led the home side’s scoring with an unbeaten 85.

An opening stand of 54 between the Marlow brothers, Shaun (22) and Steve (23), set Breamore on their way and then Harry Northway (23) gave Veit good support as they posted 221-6 with Cook (2-29) and Jackson (2-40) the best of the attack.

Shrewton were content just to play out their overs which they achieved at 140-7 having crawled to 43-1 off 20 overs. Opener Will Palmer carried his bat for an unbeaten 57 and Mike Barton made 30 as the brakes were kept on by Tom Marlow (10-5-17-3) and James Fuller (2-39).

Godshill continued their climb up the ladder with a 54-run home win over Brockenhurst and, as usual, it was an all-round performance from Jason Cooper that was the highlight of the match.

Both openers fell cheaply before Cooper (57) and Matt Robb (37) added 63 for the third wicket and then Chris Houghton (27) pushed them towards maximum batting points but they missed out as they lost their last two wickets in successive balls at 198 in 38 overs as Alan Rogers claimed 4-47.

With only Shripal Shar (31) showing any form, Brockenhurst were bowled out for 144 in 33 overs mainly by Cooper (4-25) and Alan Pollard (2-20).

Hyde’s season of woe continued with a 84-run away defeat at the hands of Sway 2nd despite a good knock from Jack Renshaw.

Sway were indebted to Jones (63) and Falso (62) for their 214-9 with Ned Thomas (3-38), Henry Chalk (2-27) and Renshaw (3-59) sharing the wickets. Although Renshaw made 67, he received little support as Hyde folded for 130 in the 35th over, David taking 4-39.
