SEMLEY freestyle skier Lloyd Wallace was left "absolutely ecstatic with my result" after becoming the first Briton in 21 years to finish in the top ten at an aerial skiing world cup.

Wallace came away from the Deer Valley World Cup, USA beaming with a seventh place finish.

The 20-year-old landed a personal best triple twisting triple jump in the final, which he was scored 113.97 for.

“My heart was pumping," he said after Thursday's event.

"I was first to go in the final and knew I had to put down an impressive jump, I took a bit more speed than my previous jump and then the rest was a bit of a blur until I reached the bottom of the landing hill.

"I am absolutely ecstatic with my result. Both jumps were the best I've ever done on snow I think! I still can't believe it; I was aiming for a top 20, and to come away in seventh is just a dream!"

Wallace continues the World Cup circuit with back-to-back weekends.

First, he heads to Moscow on Saturday, on a day he celebrates his 21st birthday, then he travels to Minsk, Belarus on February 20.

He added: “This season is a season for me to get experience on the World Cup circuit, and to get a top ten is a huge bonus. All I want to do is put down some more solid jumps in Moscow and Minsk, just like I know I can."

"As long as I do that, I’ll be putting myself into a good position to make finals again, which would be another bonus. I’m really looking forward to it!”
