SALISBURY Ladies hockey firsts twice came from behind in the West Country to earn a richly-deserved point.
The women shared the spoils in a 2-2 stalemate with Redland UWE to finish the first half of West Clubs Women's Hockey League Premier Division 2A in third place.
The home team, who were looking for a win after a crushing defeat the weekend before last, put early pressure on Salisbury.
Their opening goal caught defenders out, their right winger showed a quick turn of pace before unleashing a cracking strike on the angle across the D which Salisbury's keeper Alana Mercer couldn't stop.
Salisbury responded well, upping the ante and pushing hard.
It was short corner number three that brought the equaliser, Lisa Lovatt tucking home a rebounded shot.
The visitors then missed several goalmouth opportunities and it was the home side that squeezed their second goal just before half time.
The ladies came out fighting hard after the resumption and got a deserved equaliser as Miranda MacTaggart started and finished a move, which involved teammates Lovatt and Kerry Jackson.
Results:
Salisbury Ladies 2s 4-0 Yeovil and Sherborne
Salisbury Ladies 3s won 2-1 City of Bath
Salisbury Ladies 4s 0-7 Beaminster
Salisbury Ladies 5s lost 0-2 Swanage and Wareham seconds.
