POOR discipline pulled the plug on Ellingham and Ringwood's London and SE Junior Vase adventure.

Es went spinning out at the second round following a 15-18 defeat to Chipstead, conceding many points due to ill-thought defensive decisions.

Wing three quarter Chris Frost scored a good try and full back Josh Butcher kicked a penalty as it was all square (8-8) at half time.

With the wind behind them after the break, the hosts should have dominated the second half, but ill-discipline at the contact area led to them conceding copious penalties. They lost two players to yellow cards, but astoundingly with 13 players on the park, and Chipstead pressing their line, they won a turn over and Frost scored a great individual try at the other end.

Butcher converted to give them a 15-13 lead - but they conceded countless further penalties, which allowed Chipstead to score a winning try late in the game.

Elsewhere, Es' women defeated Hornettes women 15-0 to retain their lead at the top of National Challenge South West Division 1.

Scrum half Paige Darvill-White went over in the corner just short of half time to give them a 5-0 lead at the break.

They continued in the same style in the second half and importantly started to dominate the scrum as well. Prop forward Abbie Awdas crashed over for two second half tries to secure a hard-earned away, league victory.
