DECLAN McGregor twice found the net in the second half as Downton FC shattered the start of Ollie Cherrett's tenure as Christchurch manager with a 3-0 romp.

Dan Telfer's opener was followed by McGregor's brace to extend Robins' unbeaten run to five matches in Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division One.

The deadlock was broken when a 30 yard free kick was whipped in by Telfer which caught the home keeper off his line and went in over the line.

And they should have added to their cushion when Ben Smith's header crashed against the post.

At the start of the second half, Downton dealt with some pressure from Priory, who Cherrett was appointed manager of last week after the departure of Adie Arnold, although Charlie Aldridge was never really troubled.

Robins then raised their game and McGregor pounced twice to slot home a pair of powerful strikes.

Away manager Colin Hopkins, whose side are in third place, said: "We were always in control of this game from start to finish and should have scored more goals.

"Every single player performed well today including the substitutes that came on in the second half plus the spine of the side and our wide men excelled."
