A CLUSTER of stellar names in the racing world were represented in Salisbury Racecourse's penultimate meeting of the season.

The eight racecard, attended by 2,000 plus racegoers, opened with a winner for Pat Dobbs and Richard Hannon, something that has become a regular occurrence at the Netherhampton Track, as Paris Protocol landed the Francis Clark British Stallion Studs Maiden Stakes from Coolmoore’s representative and race favourite, Stargazer.

Favourite backers were rewarded in the following Wilkins Kennedy British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden as William Muir’s Royal Reserve provided James Doyle with the first leg of his riding double on the card.

The double was later completed in the feature event of the day, the Weatherbys Hamilton Handicap Stakes, Godolphin’s Think Ahead guided to a facile victory, providing Saeed Bin Suroor with his first success at Salisbury for 2015.

A horse of real promise, Think Ahead, cruised into the lead over a furlong out and punters never had a moment's worry as Doyle strolled home aboard the second favourite.

There was another riding double on the card, this time for Champion Jockey Elect, Silvestre De Sousa, who guided first, Derulo for David Elsworth, then Fitzwilly for Mick Channon, home in the Bathwick Tyres Andover Claiming Stakes and the Bathwick Tyres Bournemouth Handicap Stakes respectively.

The Bathwick Tyres Conditions Stakes was won by Ryan Moore aboard Projection for Beckhampton trainer, Roger Charlton. Embroiled in a battle with Tabarakk inside the final two furlongs, Ryan Moore galvanised his mount to find that little bit extra and he went on to score by a neck.

Earlier on the card there was a maiden Salisbury win for ex-Godolphin racing manager, come trainer, Simon Crisford whose Tafteesh benefitted from a fine Paul Hanagan ride to take out the second division of the Wilkins Kennedy British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes.

Salisbury round off the campaign with its 16th and final meeting - the Bathwick Tyres reduced admission raceday.

Tickets cost £9 in advance or £13 on the day and allow access to both the Bibury and the Grandstand Enclosures, the Course Enclosure will not be in operation.

Gates are open from noon.
