A PE teacher has a gold medal to show for her efforts with the England lacrosse team.

Ex-Godolphin School pupil Ruby Smith, 23, represented her nation in Czech Republic where they clinched the European Championship title.

England won all of their group games, convincingly, by thumping 17 goals past the hosts, Finland and Norway to reach the quarter-final stage against Ireland, which they won 24-3.

They smashed Israel 12-8 in the semis before beating rivals Wales 11-8 in the winner-takes-all final.

Ruby is now training and working with England towards the World Championships in 2017 which will be held in England at Surrey Sports Park, Guildford.
