FARLEY sustained their winning momentum with a comfortable 138-run victory at home to Godshill.

The hosts elected to bat first but found the track keeping unusually low. It meant a watchful and, at times, fortunate start for Mike Covill and Ian Swain, against a testing spell from Alan Pollard and Jason Cooper.

Runs proved easier to come by against the change bowlers, and the pair brought up the century stand just after the halfway mark.

Swain was bowled by Matt Robb for 46, looking to up the pace, but Covill then took over. He proceeded with an air of inevitability to his fourth ton of the season, adding 90 with Andy Coveney. With just a couple of overs to go, Covill was stumped for 138, of which exactly 100 came in boundaries. Some late blows from Dave Glanvill saw Farley to 256-4.

Godshill's openers Alan Cousins and Clive Bealey notched up some early boundaries, but Ted Glanvill and Dan Jackson soon found their radar. Glanvill rattled Cousins' timbers in a spell of seven overs for just nine runs. Jackson found some extra bounce to remove Bealey before delivering a perfect in swinger to claim the prize wicket of Cooper. Adrenaline surging, he struck again the next ball and Godshill were struggling at 36-4.

Dave Dawkins stopped the rot and dispatched some loose bowling to make a battling 34. But he eventually fell to an excellent running catch from Ted Glanvill, and despite some dogged resistance from Jim Harrison, Godshill were all out for 118 in the 38th over.

Farley claimed full points, maintaining pole position in Regional Division One West ahead of a trip to Bashley IV on Saturday.
