SKIPPER Andy Sims led from the front with a fine innings that ensured Hyde beat visitors Damerham by 94 runs.

With Rob Morey (30) the best of the early order, Hyde looked unsteady before Sims (84) and Will Hayward (30) shared in a fifth wicket stand of 86 as they reached 240-6, with Simon White (2-54) the most successful bowler.

Although Joel Horne (59) and Henry Gilbert (36) batted well, Damerham were never in contention, folding for 146 in the 42nd over. Will Alvis (3-19), Henry Chalk (2-38) and Rob Wilson (2-16) doing the damage.

Another skipper in fine form was Breamore’s Shaun Marlow who hit an unbeaten century that ensured a 52-run victory when they entertained Brockenhurst at the Marsh.

After losing an early wicket, Marlow (110 no) and Paul Veit (57) shared in a second wicket stand of 133 before father Tom Marlow (24 no) chipped in to share an unbroken fourth wicket stand with his son as Breamore posted 222-3.

Brockenhurst were soon in desperate trouble at 87-9 as wickets tumbled to Tom Marlow Snr (4-41) and Alan Bennett (3-28) but a last wicket partnership of 83 between Anton Rogers (57) and Ian Pearson (31) lifted them to a respectable 170.

With just Matt Robb and Ross Bealey, with 21 apiece, in touch, Godshill managed only 122-9 as Mike Edwards took 3-25 for Hythe and Dibden 2nds, who won by six wickets in the 34th over.

Ringwood’s hopes were dashed in their quest to gain valuable points at Exbury in their last ditch attempt to avoid relegation when the game was called off after heavy rain.
