Hampshire League – Regional Division 1

DAMERHAM got back to their winning form with a comfortable 53-run victory when they entertained struggling Hythe and Dibden 2nds and it was half-centuries from Tim O’Donnell and Ben Bealey that ensured a win.

An opening stand of 87 between O’Donnell (54) and Simon White (39) gave Damerham a solid start and the good work was continued by Bealey (53) and Joel Horne (48 no) who shared in a fourth wicket stand of 96 that propelled them to 226-5.

The visitors had a dreadful start, slumping to 38-5 off ten overs before they made better progress as Damerham tried to buy wickets.

The ploy was successful as Hythe folded for 173 in the 42nd over with James Vincent (3-15), Henry Gilbert (3-50) and Alan Turnbull (2-31) the main wicket takers.

Breamore did all hard work in restricting Bashley (Rydal) IV to 145-9 but once again their middle order batting let them down, and they lost by seven runs.

Phil Lacey (5-43) and Alan Bennett (3-25) kept the Bashley batsmen in order with only Dan Britten (47) and Nick Wedge (34) making an impression.

Breamore looked to be heading for a comfortable victory as bothers Shaun (39) and Steve (26) Marlow put on 55 but then wickets tumbled to spinners Ransome (5-34) and Kerr (3-34) and despite a late 21 from James Fuller, Breamore folded for 138 in the 41st over.

Hyde skipper Andy Sims hit a fine unbeaten half-century that steered his side to a five-wicket victory when they entertained Exbury.

Phil Craymer hit 84 in Exbury’s 188-8 with Lewis Ball (2-33) and Will Alvis (3-32) the pick of the bowlers. With support from Seth Loader (25) and Chris Shutler (28), Sims (70 no) led the reply as Hyde won with more than five overs to spare.

Godshill were no match for leaders Winton who won by 172 runs after Jordan Clark (94) had taken them to 304-8. Jason Cooper followed his 2-56 by making 28 but wickets fell at regular intervals and, with only Matt Robb (36) resisting the attack, Godshill surrendered for 132 in the 34th over.

Craig Seymour (88) and Alex Gould (52 no) took Ringwood to 203-8 against Brockenhurst at Balmer Lawn but then their bowling let them down as they conceded 45 wides in 65 extras and the home side won by five wickets in 35 overs, thanks to Shah (58) and Campbell (56 no).
