Hampshire League – Other Regional Divisions

A TON from Andy Weeks enabled Ellingham thirds to recover from a woeful start as they went on to beat Ringwood seconds by 134 runs in Regional Division 4 South West at the Carvers.

Both openers soon departed as Ellingham slumped to 17-3 from seven overs but then Weeks shared in stands of 55 with Steve Benson (11) and 69 for the ninth wicket with Ash Hough (17).

The visitors were all out for 211 in the 41st over with Weeks (118) last man out. Richard Philpott (2-37), Russell Thomas (3-23) and Aaron Dunne (2-35) were the main wicket takers.

Ringwood were pinned down by the accurate Ellingham opening attack of Ash Hough (3-22) and Matt Karelus (2-17).

And then first-change bowler Richard Hough (4-10) ran through the tail before debutant Jack Gray, 14, took his first senior wicket to finish off the home side for 77.

The innings lasted 22.3 overs with only Nick Ashman (22) and Richard Philpott (19) showing any resistance.

Hyde 2nds had little answer to Cadnam 2nds in Division 2 West as the home side racked up 305-3 through Paul Jewer (109) and Nathan Way (117) and then John Goodchild took 4-19 as the visitors were rolled over for 98.

Having dismissed Shrewton 2nds for 187, with Bob Westwood (3-38) and Harry Morris (3-60) leading the attack, Alderholt were restricted to 145-8 with Tom Morris (24) the top scorer.

Regional Division 3 South West leaders Lyndhurst and Ashurst reached a massive 439-2 against a weak Burley 2nds attack at Bolton’s Bench and they went on to win by 375 runs.

The home side's skipper Andy Reading hit an unbeaten 197 and he shared in stands of 182 for the second wicket with Simon George (131) and 183 unbeaten for the third wicket with Simon Park (63 no) and then Mark Lawless took 6-31 as ten-man Burley were skittled out for 64.

Verwood 2nds were bowled out for 102 and Chris Campbell hit 41 not out as Christchurch won by five wickets at Hurn Bridge.
