GODSHILL’S Jason Cooper produced another of his huge centuries and together with skipper Alan Cousins gave his side a 78-run victory over Sway seconds that takes them to the summit.

Put into bat, Godshill lost an early wicket before Cooper took control and his unbeaten 156 included 24 fours and two sixes. He put on 264 for the second wicket with opener Cousins, who struck nine fours in his unbeaten 77 as the home side amassed 278-1 in Regional Division 1 West.

Sway got a solid start from Sam Naylor (61) and Dan Stephenson (29), who put on 62 for the first wicket but then Neil Fotheringham (3-34), Clive Bealey (2-28) and Jack Parker (2-41) reduced the visitors to 200 all out in 41.4 overs.

Another century maker was Henry Gilbert and he shared in an unbeaten third wicket stand of 189 with Tim O’Donnell as Damerham beat Bashley-Rydal 2nds by eight wickets on the all-weather wicket at Bashley.

The home side reached 234-6 thanks mainly to Wedge (67) and Banks (51) but, undaunted, Gilbert (103 no) and O’Donnell (89 no) steered Damerham to victory.

Breamore made their lowest total for more than 40 years when they were shot out for just 25 to lose to Pylewell Park by 124 runs at The Marsh.

Mark Sterling (64) helped Pylewell improve from 45-3 off 20 overs to reach 159-9 with Paul Veit taking 2-12. Breamore lost three wickets for two runs in the first two overs and extras (9) top scored as four batsmen failed to score in the innings that succumbed in the 19th over.

Breamore’s skipper Shaun Marlow said that his side is struggling for players and a particular loss is his son Tom who is out after badly injuring his arm.

Hyde just failed to chase down a large target as they entertained Winton and lost by eight runs.

Although Clark (83) and Williams (57) had taken Winton to 187-8 it was an unbeaten 57 from number ten May that enabled the visitors to post 262-9.

Ringwood were removed for only 54 in the 27th over with the bulk of the runs coming from opener Richard Percy (17 no) – CBBEA won by nine wickets in under 10 overs at Winton Oval.
