SHREWTON United were leapfrogged by promotion rivals Trowbridge Wanderers after they were consigned to a 3-1 home defeat.
The Shrews made a sharp start early on and looked like going ahead after Craig Lewis’s shot was tipped over the bar.
That missed chance proved decisive as the visiting right winger ghosted past the defence to score in the 21st minute.
Twenty minutes later, Trowbridge were reduced to ten men after one of their defenders saw red for denying a goal scoring opportunity.
The resulting free kick, however, was blasted against the wall.
Shrews did get back on level terms when they took full advantage of a blunder that saw a routine header trudge through the goalkeeper’s legs and into the unguarded net.
But shortly after, the score line altered again as the visitors restored their lead.
A third in the second half sealed victory and ensured Trowbridge rocketed into fourth in Wiltshire League Premier Division.
