CHILDREN at Coombe Bissett Primary School went right back to the era when the Queen was crowned by celebrating the Diamond Jubilee with a 1950s street party.
Pupils made their own bunting, with one child from each year group chosen to have their design painted onto a large placard.
Headteacher Deborah Cockrean said: “It was a really exciting day, the children were thrilled to be celebrating it.
“After the picnic the younger children did a jive and the older children did a stroll.”
Nancy Crummack, 10, said: “It was really fun, the best thing was getting dressed up and doing no work.”
