A YEAR 7 pupil from Salisbury Cathedral School has recently been awarded a place in the National Children’s Orchestra.

Talented French horn player Kirsty Hobkirk will now have the chance to spend time with leading professional musicians, coaches and professors, culminating in a concert in December in Queen Elizabeth Hall, London.

Pupils in the prep school are looking forward to their production of Guys and Dolls in May.

Children from Years 3 to 8 were invited to take part, either in a leading role, as part of the chorus or as a members of the very important backstage team.

The pre-prep department at Salisbury Cathedral School has an exciting and very varied term coming up. Highlights will include celebrating Chinese New Year and a teddy bears’ picnic.

The nursery classroom was extended over the summer holidays and can now take children from the age of two-and-a-half years. The popular mother and toddler group, Hobby Horse, is a group for mums with children from the ages of newborn to three years.

Salisbury Cathedral School is holding a scholarship day on Friday, March 6. Scholarships will be awarded for academic, musical, sporting, artistic and dramatic achievements.

The school is one of the oldest in the world and teaches children between the ages of three and 13 years. In extensive grounds, the school has strong traditions of academic, sporting and musical excellence.
