In a bid to raise awareness about homelessness, Salisbury charity Alabaré is holding its first stargazing BIG Sleep at Messums West, Tisbury this May.

Open to anyone aged eight and above, the event is scheduled to take place in the heart of the Cranborne Chase National Landscape, an international Dark Night Sky Reserve offering exceptional stargazing opportunities.

A prominent fixture of Messums’ De Nadder Festival on May 24, the event will feature a guided twilight walk led by actor Pippa Haywood, an informative talk by professional astronomer Steve Tonkins and the chance to observe the night sky through telescopes.

Oliver Le Sueur, events manager at Messums West, said: "Messums West wants to help Alabaré and those they support, and we look forward to forging an ongoing partnership to help this important work."

Participants will then sleep under the stars in the barn's courtyard.

Alabaré’s events manager, Rebecca Mullen, described the location as "stunning" and emphasised how it highlighted the contrasting circumstances of their clients.

Attendees pledge to raise £150 as an adult and £25 as a young person.
