Freeview has issued a weather warning to TV viewers which could interrupt broadcasts.

The weather is taking a downturn across the country with Freeview warning people nationwide they could experience issues until later on today (Tuesday, February 20).

The terrestrial television platform said: "19 February 2024 - High pressure could affect reception across parts of the UK this week.

"Freeview viewers across parts of England and Wales could see some disruption to their TV reception between Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th of February. This is due to high pressure which could disrupt the TV signals which Freeview uses.

"You are advised not to retune your TV during this time - reception will be restored once the high pressure passes. If you have an internet-connected Freeview Play TV, or one that has the players available to view, you will still be able to watch live and on-demand content from the likes of BBC iPlayer, ITVX, All4 or My5."

It goes on: "Alternatively, you can watch Freeview via our mobile app which is available to download for free from your app store or on a web browser via our online TV Guide. For more information visit our article on how to watch Freeview online."

Speaking out on its website, the Met Office says: "Spells of wet and windy weather through this week. A band of rain will move across the north and west today, with heavy bursts in places. Sunny spells and heavy showers will develop across Scotland this afternoon, and turning chilly. Largely dry, cloudy and mild in the southeast."

Looking ahead to tonight, it adds: "Cloudy with drizzle in the south this evening, colder in the north with clear skies. Heavy rain and strong winds will spread across the UK overnight, gales around western coasts."

For Wednesday (January 21), meteorologists say: "After a wet and windy start, rain will gradually clear most areas in the afternoon, leaving bright and breezy weather behind. Mild, but feeling cooler in the wind."
