Ballet dancers perform for Wilton Care Home residents

The staff and residents at Wilton Place care home in Wilton were treated to a ballet demonstration courtesy of Salisbury Dance Studios.

Miss Kim, the Studio’s co-principal, and two of her ballet students entertained residents and staff throughout the afternoon.

"Jessica and Ari were an absolute delight, they are clearly very talented and danced beautifully, it was a magical performance."

Miss Kim explained the various positions and talked about the discipline that all ballet dancers must possess.

She spoke about the history of the Studio, which was opened after WWII by Margaret Wardrop.

Miss Kim and her Business Partner are the Studio’s current principals and have been in partnership for over 30 years.

A number of Wilton Place’s residents danced ballet in their younger years and enjoyed reminiscing about shows and classes they attended in Salisbury.

One resident, Joyce, said; "I remember being taught by Miss Wardrop. I was the youngest in the class and I performed in a show.

"We danced holding large jigsaw pieces and created the puzzle on the stage throughout the performance.

"Mine was the last piece of the puzzle to slot in, it was a picture of Salisbury Cathedral."

Antoinette Roberts, manager of Wilton Place, said: "The resident’s faces lit up when the girls started dancing.

"Every graceful movement had them transfixed.

"We feel so grateful to the girls and Miss Kim for bringing the Ballet to our home. We are looking forward to their Performance at The Playhouse at the beginning of April."
