St Thomas’s Church and Kate Edgar Music are hosting a Festival of Choirs in the heart of Salisbury.
It will take place on Saturday, April 27, at St Thomas’s Church.
In recent years the rise in the popularity of choral singing has seen many new choirs spring up in the area. And there’s a choir for everyone – from church music to rock and pop, via folk and traditional music, to choirs who just love to belt out a show tune.
Come and enjoy a day of choral singing with performances from seventeen choirs, including the Cathedral Youth Choir, Chafyn Grove School Choir, the Rock Choir, Salisbury Plain Military Wives Choir, two sea shanty groups and several community choirs, and celebrate the amazing variety of choral talent in our area.
The festival runs from 10am to 8pm. Entry is free, with refreshments available all day, and a retiring collection in aid of Cancer Research UK and St Thomas’s Church.
The festival is being curated by Kate Edgar, who runs six of the featured choirs.
Kate is an Olivier award-winning musical director and composer for several children’s television series.
Her music has also been featured in many Salisbury Playhouse productions.
