I wanted to get a mention for my local Parkinson’s group.

We are trying to increase the number of people attending the group and wanted to advise Journal readers of what we offer.

People within the group could provide valuable information regarding Parkinson’s disease, medication and the activities the local group runs for example Neurophysiology (special exercises that provide help for stiffness and physical well-being) namely “PD warrior” or “Striders”, a lower level of exercise.

We also have walking, dancing, short mat bowling, golf, “Parkies in the pub”,  coffee mornings, day trips out and talks to name but a few!

It is worth mentioning that in Salisbury area there are approximately 150 people who have Parkinson’s disease and approximately 145,000 people who have the disease nationally - and the numbers are growing.

Many people are embarrassed about sharing their diagnosis and shy away from activities and help.

Parkinson’s disease is on the increase and is incurable. Most participants found joining our groups and mutual support invaluable.
