POLICE are appealing for information after a car crashed into a tree while swerving to avoid an oncoming van.

On Wednesday (September 21) at about 6.25pm, a black Toyota Rav 4 was travelling from Gillingham towards Mere, when it met an oncoming small white van on the single lane road outside Wood Stock Trout Fishery.

The white van did not stop and continued on towards Gillingham.

The Toyota driver, a 36-year-old woman from Mere, swerved to avoid the van, left the single track carriageway on a bend and struck a large tree causing a considerable amount of damage to the vehicle and minor injuries to the driver. Police would like to speak to any witnesses to the incident and the driver of the white van who may not be aware that a collision had occurred.
