A GROUP of fundraising women dazzled as they took part in their latest challenge — the London Moonwalk 2016.

The Rio Dazzlers — Kate Church, Linda Mace, Bev Samuel, Hayley Kemish, Elaine Gwyther, Belinda Cooke, Sue Harwood, Karen Chalmers and Suzette Carlyle-Thorley — set off from Clapham Common to take part in the walk on May 14.

Six members of the group are from the Salisbury area.

Team leader Kate, said: "The goal was for everyone to finish the course but most importantly to raise as much as we could for Breast Cancer charities and to raise the profile of Breast Cancer Research.

"We all know people that have had, or, are undergoing, treatment for Breast Cancer."

Kate was diagnosed with stage 3 Breast Cancer in 2011, so knows first hand what a difference that research and improved care can make. She underwent treatment at Salisbury District Hospital.

After completing her treatment, Kate and best friend Linda began their first Moonwalk Challenge in 2014 and together raised £4,000.

By 2015, the team had grown to include Kate's sisters, Bev and Hayley and great friends Elaine and Belinda, and raised £8,000.

This year, the team of nine have raised to date about £12,000. They have raised the funds by organising dinner parties, crafting evenings and a Mardi Gras event with Live music, a DJ and fabulous food.

Kate said: "Thanks to the improvements in treatment and research, Breast Cancer is no longer a death sentence for the majority and even when, sadly, for some, there is not a cure, life whilst undergoing treatment, can be so much better."

The London Moonwalk is a 26.2 mile, power-walking marathon, from Midnight and those taking part don specially decorated bras for the occasion.

The team say it has been an amazing experience and they are already planning next year's challenge.
