BURGLARS crept into a house and stole the keys to a Mercedes before escaping in the car while the owners slept upstairs last night.
The thieves entered the house in Solstice Rise, Amesbury, and swiped the keys from the kitchen before driving off in the car that was parked on the road outside.
The occupants woke up this morning to find the car missing and called the police.
Officers found the car in Orchard Way, Amesbury, at approximately 8am today.
The number plates had been removed and swapped with several other cars in Orchard Way.
Damage to the alloy wheels appeared to have been caused by the driver hitting a kerb.
