OPERATIONS cancelled because of today's planned junior doctor strike could be rescheduled.

The British Medical Association called off the action last night after last-minute talks with government ministers.

A spokesman for Salisbury District Hospital said: "We are looking at what is possible to reschedule for today and this will be done in a safe, coordinated way.

"If patients originally had an outpatient appointment or operation today and were contacted to cancel this, the situation remains the same unless they hear directly from Salisbury District Hospital".
