A BUS company is celebrating 100 years of transporting passengers across the region - by publishing a special centenary book.

Salisbury Reds has pulled together a complete history of Wilts and Dorset buses - including anecdotes, photos, old timetables, tickets, driver badges and other memorabilia to complete the project.

Managing director Andrew Wickham said: "We are launching A Century of Service - the year by year story of Wilts & Dorset 1915-2015 - as a tribute to the many local people who have worked and travelled with us during our long history in this region.

“It is also a celebration of the success we have seen here during this time. It’s a wonderful achievement to have been operating as Salisbury Reds - and before that as Wilts and Dorset - for 100 years.

“We have such a connection with the area - and are delighted to be bringing together the memories and pictures of all those who have been part of this special piece of local history.”

The new book has been compiled by local transport historian - and former employee of the bus operator - Chris Harris with the design work, carried out by bus designer Ray Stenning.

It was officially launched during the operator’s centenary event, which took place in the city’s Guildhall Square last month.
