A 55-YEAR-OLD woman has been fined £200 for painting graffiti on walls in the city centre.

Police arrested homeless Sabina Hansard, 55, after receiving reports a woman was writing slogans in grey paint on a number of buildings in Salisbury on Wednesday morning.

Officers received several calls from members of the public between 7.45am and 8.25am, reporting the damage.

The graffiti was painted on a wall in Salt Lane Car Park and on the wall of Salisbury Post Office.

The slogans were aimed at bankers, with one reading "UK BANKERS MUST DO TIME".

Hansard was charged with three counts of criminal damage and one of theft.

She was held in custody and appeared at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Thursday, May 28), where she was fined £200.

PC Tracey Holloway said: "We'd like to thank members of the public who acted promptly in reporting this incident in progress."
