SALISBURY musicians who released a Christmas single to help in the fight against cancer have sold about 500 copies of the song so far.

Christmas Time Once More by the RockBorn Music Academy has attracted plenty of support from the community, however the group is hoping to sale even more copies to raise as much as it can for Cancer Research UK.

The band of nine musicians and singers, who are from Salisbury and the surrounding area, comprises of Colin Mitchener, Pete Legg, Ted Draper, Joe Thorne, Becky Sims, Brian Moody, Dave Mace, Geoff Sims, and Terry Goulding.

"It has been going very well," said Colin, who lives in Downton and came up with the music and lyrics for the Christmas song. This is the first Christmas song Colin has written.

The 500 copies sold so far include CD sales and downloads. It has already sold out in The Co-operative store in Downton.

Band spokesman Martin Holloway added: "Whilst we have been pleased with the sales as they gone so far it would be great to get more. We are thinking about doing a whole album for next Christmas but we need the encouragement of the public to help us to help Cancer Research.

"We want people to give us a chance to make this money for Cancer Research UK and help us to go on so we can do something much bigger and better next year. We really want to make a bit more money for the charity."

The song was recorded at Sound Investment Recording Studio, Rockbourne, and released by Buzzard Records UK, which are run by Pete Legg.

The song is available to buy or download by visiting anotherecho.co.uk or buzzardrecords.co.uk. It costs £1.99 for the CD and 99p for download. The CD is available at the Cancer Research UK shop in Salisbury.
