A NEW Kia Picanto is the top prize in the Stars Appeal Christmas Raffle this year with cash prizes of £500, £250 and five lots of £50 also to be won.

The star prize is worth over £8,000 and has been supplied for the sixth year running by local car dealers FJ Chalke of Mere.

Money raised from the raffle will go towards the Stars Appeal’s Breast Cancer Unit campaign to raise £750,000 for a dedicated Breast Unit at Salisbury District Hospital.

A new unit will offer faster diagnosis and treatment; and the best possible environment and experience for the 4,500 local women and men that the Salisbury breast team sees each year.

James Chalke, managing director of FJ Chalke said: “Having seen first-hand how local people benefit from projects funded by the Stars Appeal, like the two new CT Scanners and Neonatal Family Accommodation Unit, and the community support that has been given so far towards the Stars Appeal’s Breast Cancer Unit campaign, we were delighted to offer our support once again.”

Gemma Heath, Events & Community Fundraiser for the Stars Appeal said: “The Christmas Raffle is an opportunity to support the Breast Cancer Unit campaign with the chance of driving away in a brand new car.

“Every ticket sold will help us towards making this vitally important breast unit a reality. We need people to buy tickets, and to encourage their friends to do the same.”

Tickets are just £1 each, and are available from the Stars Appeal Bookshop in the main entrance at Salisbury District Hospital and at FJ Chalke of Mere.

The Stars Appeal is looking for volunteers to help sell tickets to their friends, family & colleagues.

If you can help, call The Stars Appeal Office on 01722 429005.

Ticket stubs must be returned to the Stars Appeal by December 31 to be included in the draw, which will take place on January 12.
