CHILDREN at Fordingbridge Infant School were given a toy story from the Victorian age by staff at the town’s museum.
Fordingbridge Museum trustee Julian Hewitt showed reception class pupils a variety of Victorian toys including dolls made of wax with real human hair.
Teacher Penny Crump said: “The children were very amused when we demonstrated how to play with the toys and were eager to have a go themselves. “Although they are more used to high tech toys that are often influenced by modern media they still had great fun playing with the old wooden toys.”
Mr Hewitt said: “It is great when youngsters take an interest in life in the past and can learn about it in a fun way.
“They will all shortly follow up the experience with a visit to the museum when they will learn more about how their great grandparents lived.”
