THE organisers of the Salisbury Christmas Market are planning another night-time Lantern Procession to open the annual market.

It will take place on Thursday, November 27 at 6.30pm and they are asking all members of the community to take part.

Organiser Stephanie Swann said: “Whether you are six or 60 lantern making is a wonderful and compelling teambuilding activity.

“In order for people to learn how to make these magnificent willow and paper lanterns, there will be a number of workshops running up to the event at various locations around the city.”

The dates for the workshops at Cross Keys Mall are Sunday, November 9 from 10am to 1pm and 1 to 4pm; Thursday, November 13 from 4 to 7pm; and Sunday, November 16 from 10am to 1pm and 1 to 4pm.

She added: “The Lantern Procession will be repeated on Friday, November 28 at Salisbury Hospital, where it will benefit Horatio’s Garden.

“Already in its third year, it brings great joy to patients in the Spinal Injuries Unit.”

They are also asking for any other businesses or organisations who wish to take part and want to arrange a separate workshop to contact them at stephanie@ salisburychristmasmarket.co.uk.
