APPRENTICES and Employers from across the county will be celebrated at the annual Wiltshire College Apprenticeship Awards.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Arc Theatre in Trowbridge on Wednesday, September 24 and will be attended by 100 guests.

This year Wiltshire College has supported over 1,000 apprentices across the county in 40 different subject areas.

David Murley, Director for Business Development at Wiltshire College, said: “Apprenticeships are becoming recognised more and more as a good alternative to full time study, either at college or sixth form.

“There is an increasing demand for young, skilled and qualified workers in a multitude of industries, and I am delighted to be part of the team here at Wiltshire College that supports local young people into those opportunities.”

The business training and development arm of Wiltshire College, Wiltshire Enterprise, works closely with apprentices to help them find and start apprenticeships.

One of the award winners, Jodie-Leigh Jones, from Salisbury, said: “I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship. I have enjoyed meeting new people in my workshops and getting a qualification to help my career.

“I would definitely recommend apprenticeships to other people as it's a great way to gain and start a career. It is very rewarding, and a great way to get experience.”
