Phil said: "I'm over the moon! I've poured my heart and soul into reaching this point in my career.

The HJ British Hairdressing Business Awards spotlight those who are “making waves in the hairdressing industry, changing the game for everyone involved.”

Smith England reached the finals after submitting entries that detailed the skills and experience that have contributed to the salon’s success to date.

It is already one of the UK’s most awarded independent salons. Amongst its titles are Individual Salon of the Year at the Fellowship Awards 2022; BHBA Salon of the Year 2018; Hair Magazine Regional Salon of the Year 2018, 2023 & 2024 and BHBA Salon Team of the Year 2019.

Jayne Lewis-Orr, Executive Director of the BHBAs, said: "The awards celebrate the talented and passionate teams and individuals who contribute to the greatness of British hairdressing.

“To make the shortlist for these categories, nominees need to demonstrate a forward-thinking approach to running a salon, as well as the results and reputation to back it up. The Smith England team should feel incredibly proud to have achieved that and finalised alongside such impressive talent.”

At last year’s BHBAs, up-and-coming talent Victoria Tryhorn won Assistant of the Year. Victoria also picked up the title of Apprentice of the Year and Isobel Andrews won Future Talent at the Salon Awards 2023.

Phil Smith must now participate in an in-depth interview with a panel of expert judges, before the winners will be revealed at the 25th British Hairdressing Business Awards, set to take place on Monday, July 1, 2024, at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.
