A GADGET shop in the Old George Mall has made the "difficult decision" to close, just five months after it opened.
Menkind is running a closing-down sale advertising that "everything must go" ahead of its last day on January 31.
The chain retailer, which sells gifts, gadgets and collectables, opened a shop in Salisbury on August 18.
After Menkind Salisbury closes the nearest store will be West Quay Shopping Centre in Southampton.
A spokesperson for Menkind said: "We are always looking for opportunities to open new Menkind stores, unfortunately the store in Salisbury performed below our expectations, hence we have taken the difficult decision to close the store."
Days after the opening, assistant manager James Slater told the Journal many of his customers were shocked to see the former Clinton Cards shop occupied by a new business.
Mr Slater expected business to pick up around Christmastime after the opening of the nearby Primark.
Menkind and the manager of the Old George Mall were approached for comment.
